Song POP – Home
Lylah Taank
VERSE I
A tainted wine glass
Wine spilt on the rug
The door’s wide open
The room’s covered in dust
The wind blows out the only torch
Was this room always so cold and dark?
CHORUS
But I left the door open
Just in case you come in
I got your favourite tea and your favourite sweatshirt
A vinyl that you love and your favourite channel on
Even though this film is old
We can make this room home
VERSE II
Shattered mirror on the floor
Broken windows welcome the cold
Your picture frame still on the table
The bouquet of roses smells of rot
The creaking floorboard still has your mark
Was this room always so cold and dark?
CHORUS
But I left the door open
Just in case you come in
I got your favourite tea and your favourite sweatshirt
A vinyl that u love and your favourite channel on
Even though this film is old
We can make this room home
BRIDGE
A letter hiding under the bed
In a box that’s always closed
Your writing is almost negligible
But I still remember what you wrote
Said this room wasn’t cold before
But then I walked out the door
Knocking the wine off the bed
You threw a mirror at my head
You said this place was haunted now
From everything that turned us blue
No, this room wasn’t cold and dark before
But now that’s all it is to you
You said,
CHORUS
“I left the door open for you first
Thought you’d come in with a rush
I got your favourite tea, and you’re favourite sweatshirt
A vinyl that you love, and your favourite channel on
But then this room turned cold
As I waited alone.”

Don’t Let Yesterday hold You Back
Song
Sadaf
Class 5
Gitanjali Vedika School
(Budding Writer attending Takhte’s Creative Writing Sessions)
Chorus
Don’t let yesterday hold you back,
let’s get today on track.
Grab the new day,
And let yesterday fade away.
Verse 1
Sunlight shines on morning dew,
A fresh day and a hopeful hue.
Let’s leave behind the darkness of night,
And step into the morning bright.
Chorus
Don’t let yesterday hold you back,
let’s get today on track.
Grab the new day,
And let yesterday fade away.
Verse 2
Mistakes are made; Doubts may come up,
But let’s rise above to blow it up.
With every sunrise being a new start,
A fresh beginning with a new heart.
Chorus
Don’t let yesterday hold you back,
let’s get today on track.
Grab the new day,
And let yesterday fade away.
Verse 3
Learn from the lesson and let go of the pain,
Make sure it doesn’t happen again and again.
It’s a fresh day, and a new hope is born,
A brighter tomorrow, in a brand-new morn.
Chorus
Don’t let yesterday hold you back,
let’s get today on track.
Grab the new day,
And let yesterday fade away…
